Description
A digital photobook exploring traditional Greek female costumes through contemporary black and white portrait photography.
Created by George Tatakis, Caryatis — Islands I documents women across the Greek islands wearing garments that have been preserved, adapted, and carried through generations.
This PDF edition presents a curated sequence of images designed as a photobook experience — not a collection of photographs, but a structured visual narrative.
These garments were never meant to remain.
They were worn, altered, repaired, carried forward.
What persists is not their form, but the will not to let them go.
