Figures align along a forward axis within the Vovousa sawmill, compressed into a shallow depth that brings each body into direct relation with the viewer. A leading figure holds the front, while the others follow in sequence behind.
This alignment introduces direction. The image shifts from a static arrangement to a controlled advance, where position is defined by progression and each figure carries weight through placement along the axis.
Part of the Caryatis series, a long-term body of work exploring traditional Greek costume through directed portraiture.
