Photographed in Santorini, this black and white image is structured around interference between light and built form.
The composition is defined by a narrow passage leading to a central doorway. The vertical wall on the left creates a strong division, while the doorway anchors the frame. Secondary elements, including small openings and the adjacent structure, remain controlled and minimal.
The environment consists of compact Cycladic architecture. Surfaces are continuous, with limited articulation. The ground plane slopes slightly, guiding the eye toward the entrance while maintaining asymmetry across the frame.
The relationship between subject and environment is disrupted by shadow. A large cast shadow enters from the left, disrupting the wall's continuity. Additional shadow forms appear on the ground and right side, creating a layered structure of light and obstruction.
Light is direct and directional. It produces hard edges and high contrast transitions. The rendering emphasizes separation between illuminated planes and shadowed areas, reinforcing the structural tension of the scene.
