ABOUT THE WORK

Diver Helmet #12, Kalymnos is a mixed media work by George Tatakis, available as an original painting or a poster reproduction. Select the version and dimensions from the product options; the materials and signature details below refer to the original painting.

A frontal object occupies the center, replacing the figure with a sealed form. The helmet defines the image, while the surrounding color fields flatten depth and remove spatial reference.

The work isolates and repositions the object through intervention. The photographic layer preserves recognition, while the painted surface introduces contrast and imbalance, shifting attention across the frame. The image becomes an artifact rather than a record.

The piece is produced through a layered process: the photograph is printed, painted with acrylic, and reprinted, forming a composite surface where texture and image remain inseparable.
