Three figures occupy separate planes within a fragmented interior, with the veiled figure positioned in depth and two unveiled figures advancing toward the foreground. The composition extends laterally while maintaining a central axis through the distant figure.
The image operates through distance and separation. The central figure withdraws into shadow and obstruction, while the flanking figures assert presence at the edges. The space holds through this division, where depth becomes the primary structure.
Part of the Caryatis series, a long-term body of work exploring traditional Greek costume through directed portraiture.
