Collection: Thessaly

This selection presents works from Thessaly within the Caryatis project by George Tatakis, photographed across locations including Trikeri, Pelion, Stefanovikio, and the Karagouna region of Trikala. The images focus on traditional women’s costume, approached through directed portraiture and controlled spatial conditions.

Each photograph establishes a precise relationship between figure, garment, and environment. Interiors and exterior settings are used not as background, but as structural elements that define the presence of the subject within the frame.

Rather than describing regional identity, the work isolates it. The collection is defined by variation within a consistent visual language, where differences in costume, posture, and setting produce distinct compositions across the same underlying system.
