A veiled figure occupies the foreground, turned away, forming a solid vertical mass that blocks direct access to the space beyond. Through the doorway, a second room opens, where a seated figure remains visible at a distance.
The image is held by separation. The doorway divides the composition into two distinct conditions—concealment in the front, visibility in the back. The figures do not interact; they exist in parallel, connected only through the opening.
Part of the Caryatis series, a long-term body of work exploring traditional Greek costume through directed portraiture.
