BLACK AND WHITE ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
Photographed in Santorini, this black and white image is structured around interference between curved and angular forms.
The composition is built through overlapping volumes. A large curved wall occupies the right foreground, while angular structures recede into the background. Openings and small windows punctuate the surfaces, creating interruptions within the continuity.
The environment consists of tightly packed Cycladic architecture. Walls connect at varying angles, forming a layered spatial system. The passage moves diagonally through the frame, shifting direction as it progresses deeper.
The relationship between elements is based on tension. Curved surfaces resist the sharper edges of the structures behind them. This creates a visual friction between soft and rigid geometries.
Light moves across the scene in controlled segments. Bright planes are interrupted by deep shadows, emphasizing the transitions between forms. The rendering highlights texture and edge definition without flattening the space.
Part of the Chorōs series, a body of work studying rhythm and musical structure within static visual compositions.
Printed as an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle fine art paper.
