A single figure is placed against a low horizon, where the surface of the sea extends laterally without interruption. The body occupies the center, separating sky and water into two distinct fields.
The image relies on this division. The horizon fixes the figure in place, while the Atalanti dress introduces density against an otherwise open space. Isolation becomes structural, not incidental, holding the subject in direct opposition to the surrounding expanse.
Part of the Caryatis series, a long-term body of work exploring traditional Greek costume through directed portraiture.
