A single figure holds the central axis, positioned directly in front of the sofa and aligned with the wall elements behind her. At the right edge, a mannequin introduces a secondary body without presence, repeating the human form while remaining inert.
This substitution sharpens the structure of the image. The room is organized around the living figure, while the mannequin functions as a controlled echo, shifting the work from portrait to duplication. The interior does not simply contain the scene; it stages the distinction between presence and stand-in.
Part of the Caryatis series, a long-term body of work exploring traditional Greek costume through directed portraiture.
