Photographed in Santorini, this black and white image is structured around interference between solid form and projected shadow.
The composition is anchored by a vertical wall supporting a small bell tower at the top. Below it, a dark opening and a window define the façade. On the left, a secondary wall receives a sharply defined shadow cast from an unseen structure.
The environment consists of enclosed Cycladic architecture with minimal openings. Surfaces are continuous, with visible texture and irregularities in the plaster. The space is compact and contained.
The relationship between elements is indirect. The shadow introduces a secondary form that does not physically exist in the space but interacts with the wall as an extension of structure. This creates a dual reading between object and projection.
Light is strong and directional, producing high contrast between illuminated surfaces and shadowed areas. The rendering emphasizes edge definition and the clarity of the projected shape.
Part of the Chorōs series, a body of work studying rhythm and musical structure within static visual compositions.
